It will last 12 weeks and be conducted by Chinese lecturer Ms. LIU Yishuo and Slovak sinologist Daniela Zhang. First lecture will take place November 8, 2024.

From March to June (4 months) and September to December (3 months) of 2024, we plan to organize 15 sessions of Chinese culinary experience events. The entire program will provide Slovak-language translations and guidance for making a variety of traditional Chinese dishes and pastries. The course is open to all Slovak friends who enjoy Chinese cuisine, regardless of age. Participants will receive series of explanations and hands-on guidance for preparing 15 Chinese traditional dishes and pastries, including Mapo Tofu, Kung Pao Chicken, Longjing Shrimp, Li Hongzhang’s Mixed Vegetables, Homestyle Stir-Fried Pork, Garlic Vermicelli Shrimp and Dumplings, among many others.
Participants can taste the dishes they prepare on-site or take them away. Students can choose to attend multiple sessions or select individual sessions. The total cost for a single session, including food ingredients, isEUR 30,-. However, you are welcome to invite another person so the price of EUR 30 is for 2 people. Tuition fees must be paid online to the Confucius Institute’s designated account before the 1st of the month in which the course begins, with the student’s name specified. Schedule and Menu for March to June 2024 (twice a month, Fridays 16:00–18:00):
In July 2024, a 2-week Confucius Institute summer camp is planned to be held in China (between July 27 and August 10, 2024) – Beijing (2 days), Qingdao (10 days), and Shanghai (2 days). The entry city is Beijing, and the departure city is Shanghai – please view the detailed schedule HERE. During the two weeks in China, the summer camp will include 10 intensive spoken Chinese courses. Additionally, visits to scenic spots such as the Great Wall and the Forbidden City in Beijing, Laoshan Mountain, the Underwater World, Zhanqiao Scenic Area, Badaguan, and May Fourth Square in Qingdao, City God Temple, Nanjing Road, the Bund, Oriental Pearl Tower, and Zhujiajiao Water Town in Shanghai are scheduled. The eligibility criteria for summer camp participants are as follows:
a. Participants must hold Slovak or EU nationality, be aged between 18 and 30 by June 30, 2024, and must submit a photocopy of the personal passport photo page during registration.
b. Participants must register for and complete a 4-week – 32-hour intensive HSK1 Chinese language course from March, 11 to April 4, 2024, and simultaneously must pass the HSK1 exam organized by the Confucius Institute on April 7. The course will be held each day from Monday to Thursday from 16:30 to 18:00 in designated classrooms at the Confucius Institute at Comenius University at the Faculty of Arts. The total cost for tuition and exam fee is 100 euros, payable online to the Confucius Institute account by March 10, 2024.
c. Participants are responsible for their own round-trip international airfare from Vienna to Beijing and Shanghai to Vienna, as well as visa-related expenses.
d. During their stay in China, expenses for study, travel, accommodation, transportation, breakfast, and dinner will be covered by the cooperating Chinese partner school.
